How To Make A Natural Lipstick
November 29, 2022

Many women are drawn to lipstick for everyday wear or special occasions.

Compared with other make-up items, lipstick has the shortest shelf life. That’s why I’m here to teach you how to make a natural lipstick that is both affordable and long-lasting. This is one of my favorite recipes because it is easy to use on the go, pleasant smelling, and doesn’t leave your lips looking all messed up halfway through the day. You can also write down this recipe in the form of a word document, so you don’t have to remember every ingredient!

Ingredients:

One tablespoon coconut oil, one teaspoon beeswax, 2 drops sweet orange essential oil, 10 drops castor oil, tea tree essential oil (optional), mixing bowl, mini spoon or fork dish for mixing, and spoon or small knife to put the mixture in containers.

Directions:

  1. Put coconut oil in a bowl.
  2. Add beeswax to the bowl.
  3. Gently heat up in the microwave (or on the stovetop) until it has completely melted.
  4. Mix essential oils into the mixture.
  5. Add mix to your container(s).
  6. Let cool before using.

Peppermint Lip Balm:

This recipe can also be used as a regular lip balm. It takes approximately six tablespoons of product.

  • 3 tbsp. organic coconut oil
  • 1 tsp. organic beeswax pellets
  • 10 drops sweet orange essential oil
  • 15 drops peppermint essential oil
  • Tea tree essential oil (optional)

Directions:

  1. Melt coconut oil and beeswax pellets in a small dish over a pot of boiling water or in the microwave until it is almost completely melted.
  2. Add essential oils to the mixture and stir well. Store finished product in a small jar with a lid. Let cool before using. Enjoy!

I had my boyfriend mark this recipe as dangerous because of the heating of beeswax. However, I have been making lip balm for years by melting beeswaxes in microwaves for short amounts of time, 30 seconds at a time, stirring in between each interval- I would suggest doing this on high power until it’s down to about 80%. If you do not, the shell will never melt, and you will be left with a nasty burnt taste. Place some water in your bowl along with the wax to keep it from getting too hot. If you are scared of microwaves, feel free to do this on the stove instead. Add some ice cubes to cool everything down quickly, then stir until smooth or melted!

Be sure that you are using 100% pure essential oils for this recipe. It is also helpful to use organic virgin coconut oil, which has many health benefits, including weight loss! If you want to purchase beeswax pellets, Amazon usually has an affordable price. Also, remember that changing the concentration makes the recipe too hard; you can always add a little bit of coconut oil to your mixture.

Good luck!
